| Is there a fee or are you covered by OHIP? |
My services are not covered by OHIP. Yes, there is a fee which I will discuss with you in the initial telephone conversation. Some insurance companies or Employee Assistance Programs cover my services for a limited number of sessions. You can inquire whether they cover the services of a Registered Social Worker
|
| How many sessions will it take? |
It is difficult to say. The number of sessions depends on the scope and the intensity of the problem, the depth of the impact on the person's life, the ability and openness of the person (couple) to "doing the work" and make changes. For couples the average number of sessions is ten and under.
|
| How long are the individual sessions? |
One hour.
|
| Where is your office located? |
I have an office in Aurora (York Region) and in Pickering (Durham Region).
|
| What happens in the first session? |
| I will ask you some questions regarding the problem that brought you to my office, how you experience the problem. What are some of the thoughts and feelings you have in the situation. I will try and get "into your space" - to get a felt sense and understanding of what it is like for you. We identify some issues which we explore in subsequent sessions. |

| With couples I give each person a chance to tell their "side" of the problem. We look at the existing problem, the communication patterns that have developed over time, the underlying feelings that each partner has and explore different ways of being with each other in subsequent sessions. If there has been a betrayal of trust in the relationship, we focus on the dynamics and feelings that this act has created, it's impact on the relationship and where to go from there. |
